I have a Universe winner as my Coaching mastermind! Perfect situation!
In 2013 I competed at the WFF Southern Hemispheres and, while getting ready, in walks this amazing body, seriously jaw-dropping! As soon as she spoke I recognised the Kiwi accent and I had to introduce myself. That was my first encounter with Jo Mountfort and she made a huge impression on both myself and my husband. The reason is easy – she was just such a beautiful person to speak with. Bubbly, inviting and so cheerful. I couldn’t help but be drawn to her and following that comp I started following her amazing achievements on social media. In 2015, I decided it was time to employ a coach. While very happy chipping away with my own training, I really wanted someone who would challenge and drive me forward. My first priority was that my new coach had to have something that I wanted. Jo was a very easy choice and the only person that came to mind, so I messaged her and pretty much begged her to take me. I didn’t want anyone else. Had she turned me down I guarantee I would have stayed coach-less. I wasn’t desperate – I just wanted Jo as my coach. It was that simple. Posing Coaching Prior to begging for coaching – I contacted Jo for a double posing session via Skype. Why? Easy – she is quite simply the best poser I have seen onstage. I knew the basics and how to hold a standard pose, but I had no finesse and no idea how to achieve it. No amount of studying pictures, stalking YouTube or reading websites was helping. Jo opened me up to a world of symmetry. She taught me how to hold myself in a certain way and how to twist and turn and lift with such slight movements that made such a huge difference. The Skype method worked really well. We experimented with lighting and venue and managed to find a way to get messages back and forth with ease. I also received a coaching manual which I turn to often. I couldn’t recommend the posing coaching more.
So the posing led to the coaching and I couldn’t be happier. I thrive on my programs, I love our Skype catch-ups and the communication is all so easy. I have the hunger already in me to achieve and Jo takes me to the next level each and every time we catch up. I love it.
Johanna Mountfort's Programs
What I love about the programs is the way they are put together. The combinations, rep ranges and split variations are exciting and challenging. I especially look forward to the extra special challenges often found in the last line of the program. One of the most important things about Jo’s style for me is that she listened to what I said. She heard me when I said that I dislike heavy weights/low reps style of training. While she pushes me through the full spectrum of styles, there is nothing predictable or monotonous. I have found the exercises to be a mix of those that I know, and those that she teaches me. The Skype sessions are where we discuss my next program and where I am able to ask all of the questions I need to about what she has set me to do. I can get a clear tutorial from Jo this way and it leaves me feeling confident that I am doing exactly what she has set for me to do. With online training one of the biggest downfalls is getting a program and completing it a certain way, only to find that it’s been interpreted wrong and you’ve been doing it wrong the whole way through. We eliminate that with the program being sent prior to a Skype session. What I love about Johanna Mountfort's overall coaching style.
Overall, I have found that working with Jo is like having a really talented new friend (lol!). She is just such a lovely person and she treats me like a peer rather than a ‘trainee’. I feel the personalised approach. Which is another really important thing for me with online training - that personalised approach – many offer it, few do it. Jo answers all of my messages almost instantly, she has never put off our Skyping and has squeezed me in on a Sunday because of the vast time difference between us – you can’t ask for more than that! On top of that, she gives me her full attention and she targets those areas that she identifies I need more or less work on. I’m not another number getting a generic routine. I feel very special – so much so that I feel a little guilty some days for the effort she puts in to me. I’m extremely happy. My training ticks along beautifully and I have a Universe winner as my Coaching mastermind. Perfect situation.Johanna Mountfort
