You must be competing in categories that require the same posing (i.e both of you doing Figure. One person wanting to learn Sportsmodel and the other wanting to learn Figure will not work for a pairs session. Some category combinations do work however, eg: Bikini and Fitness model, Or Bodybuilding Women/Physique and NABBA Classic Women. If you are not sure please contact me to ask!)

Frequently asked questions about my posing sessions:

Which category i should compete in? Expand

No problem! I will figure this out for you! You can email me some full body photos if you like? However, when we are working together I can assess your physique then trial a few different poses on you and your body will definitely speak to me! Then I can give you my recommendations on the category and federation/s that will suit your physique best.

What do I wear to a stage posing session? Expand

Please wear either:  sports bra and fitted shorts/hot pants or a bikini and either stage heels OR your highest pair of heels (or trainers if you are a sports model). If you are not sure which category you fall into, then please bring both heels and trainers to your posing session. If you are close in date to your competition please bring your category costume/s (eg bikini or Sports Model wear, Runway Model dress etc).

How do I change my posing session/s time or date? Expand

If you would like to reschedule any of your sessions please use the reschedule link in your email booking confirmation. If the reschedule occurs within 4 hours of your session time you will be charged the session. 

Please be sure to use the reschedule link rather than the cancellation button as this is far simpler for us to track your completed posing sessions.



Where are the Posing One to One sessions located? Expand

My studio is on Aucklands’ North Shore.

I have girls from all over NZ come to learn from me one to one. If you are making a big trip, it can be helpful (and good use of time) to book 2 sessions on back to back days and stay overnight in Auckland - if you have that option available to you!

Some girls will do a road trip, others will fly in and either uber, or rental car, to me from Auckland airport.  It is always worth your while to experience a one to one posing session. For both of us, being able to physically work together pays off massively!

Can I mix my Online and One to One sessions? Expand

Yes absolutely.

You can pre arrange this in the booking form submitted at the time of your bookings OR you can let me know in advance. I understand that sometimes your plans change and there is no way you can make your one to one session, in which case the online option means that you can still keep your booking and not have to deal with traffic or can be at home If you have a child home that day etc! Otherwise go ahead and reschedule it using the reschedule link if this suits better. 

Many of my clients do both one to one and online sessions if they live in the North Island of NZ, others do all online or all one to one. The choice is yours! I'm here ready to teach you regardless!



How do Online posing sessions work? Expand

When you set up your space for our online session I would like you to be on a phone or iPad/tablet rather than a laptop and this needs to be placed on something that is about knee height from the floor. This is so that you appear to me in the "portrait" rather than "landscape" view. It helps me see your full body rather than just your upper body.

You need to be able to step back from your device about 5 or 6 steps so that I can see you from head to toe. 

It can help you to have a full length mirror placed behind your device so you can visually see the adjustments that I make on you during your session.



How much of my own posing practice should I do and for how long? Expand

Your practice is crucial. Learning to pose is like learning to drive or write. The information needs to be stored in your subconscious memory so that it becomes automatic. I record every posing session that you have with me so that you can work with the recording for your own practice and my cues soak into your brain and body. In the beginning, about 15-20 minutes practice approximately 3 days a week will be enough. 

Your practice means that when you come to your next session with me we can do a quick recap to see where you are at, then move on to learning more, instead of having to repeat over and over again what we did in the previous session. 

As you get closer to competing I will be drilling your posing harder and calling the poses just like the head judge will! This is to build the endurance that you will need on stage and so that you know what to expect when you are up there! At this time your practice is recommended for most days of the week to create the endurance that you will need for judging in case you are in a tough lineup! This also installs all of your posing into your muscle memory so that when you are onstage you can remain calm and you can clearly execute your posing without nerves blanking out the information that your brain needs to access. Nerves can break it for you, no one wants to be a shaking, fumbling mess up there after months of prep! Therefore, lots of practice and sufficient sessions with me will ensure you can handle it up there on your big day and retain everything that I have taught you under that pressure!



How far apart shall I space my session bookings? Expand

If you are a few months out, space them fortnightly apart so you have plenty of practice time in between your sessions with me.

If you are quite close to comp please book weekly sessions and if you can, 2 sessions on your final peak week so that we can do a full dress rehearsal and I can iron out any last minute adjustments as your condition peaks in that final week. 



What happens if I decide not to compete and I have posing sessions remaining? Expand

Your sessions or posing package purchase secures your priority in my busy schedule and my sessions are in high demand! Therefore, refunds are not applicable if you choose not to compete.

However you may choose to:

  1. Place any remaining sessions owing on pause for use at a later date
  2. Transfer the balance over to any other product on the Johanna Mountfort Website (training programming, nutrition plans etc)
  3. Gift or sell your remaining sessions to a friend

TERMS & CONDITIONS:

Refund Clause: Please note, your package purchase secures your priority in my busy schedule! Therefore, refunds are not applicable if you choose not to compete. However you may choose to:

  1. Place any remaining sessions owing on pause for use at a later date within 12 months
  2. Transfer the balance over to any other product on the Johanna Mountfort Website
  3. Gift your sessions to a friend
